ABOUT THE ART:

Dr. Jane Ellen Wiener Einhorn

was an avid painter and visual artist, creating hundr

eds of different artworks, in a style that ranged from representational to abstract. Her work was most inspired by Van Gogh and Chagall, often featuring bright colors and swirling patterns. She won multiple awards in local art shows and was a member of the Westfield, New Jersey Art Association.

Jane Einhorn passed away in May 2020, but her sons are trying to find homes for her extensive art collection.

MORE ABOUT JANE: Jane was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Dr. Alexander S. Wiener and Mrs. Gertrude Wiener. Her father is best known as the co-discoverer of the Rh Factor, along with Dr. Karl Landsteiner. Jane attended Bard College and New York University (NYU) for her Bachelor of Arts, then received her Ph.D. in psychology from NYU in 1967, focusing on social psychology. She worked as a professor of psychology at Kean College, Union County College and Rutgers University. She lived on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for the last 15 years of her life. She is survived by her sons David and Edward, their wives LeAnne and Cornelia, and her two granddaughters, Felicia and Diana.

Her life and work, along with her father’s work, was commemorated by her son Edward Einhorn in his play Doctors Jane and Alexander, produced by Untitled Theater Company No. 61 in February 2020 at HERE Arts Center in New York. It was reviewed in various publications, including The New York Times.
